At today’s session in Sarajevo, the deputies of the BiH Parliament House of Peoples did not adopt the Law on Privatization of Enterprises and Banks in BiH. The deputies from the RS did not vote for the proposal of this law since they believe that the proposed Law on privatization in BiH is contrary to the sovereignty right of the entity. The process of privatization should be the responsibility of the entities and, therefore, there is no need for an “umbrella” law.

The HR to BiH, Carlos Westendorp, decided to impose Framework Law on the Privatization of Enterprises and Banks since the proposal of this law was refused by the BiH Parliament House of Peoples today. This obstruction of some members of the House of Peoples, with a false excuse, is completely unacceptable and inconsistent regarding the previously agreed standpoints of the House of Representatives and CoM, and can be interpreted as an attempt of jeopardizing the program of economic reconstruction for which the Framework Law on the Privatization is a key component.
