The Office of the High Representative sharply refutes the ludicrous allegations made to the press this week that journalists from the Federation were denied access by the OHR to the Presidency session at the National Museum on 29 October.

STATEMENT BY CARL BILDT, HIGH REPRESENTATIVE Sarajevo, 22 October 1996. With the postponement of the local elections, the international community will now be in a better position to assure local elections according to the higher standards which we are seeking.

The Office of the High Representative has today, Thursday 17 October, witnessed the destruction of property on the site of the Mosque Ferhadija in Banja Luka. The destruction includes the levelling of a house and the removal of trees on the site of the former Mosque.

Further exploratory discussions on Succession Issues took place at the Office of the High Representative in Brussels on October 14 and 15. Delegations from all five states participated. The discussions were constructive, and will be resumed in three or four weeks time.

The recently-formed International Commission on Missing Persons in the former Yugoslavia held its initial meeting in Geneva on October 11 and 12.
