The first thing to say about the Agreement is that as a peace treaty it has been enormously successful. Its greatest achievement has been that it ended three-and-a-half years of terrible conflict and brought twenty years of peace. This is an achievement which cannot be underestimated.

It is always good to be in Banja Luka, especially when there is an opportunity to have a frank discussion on how we can get Bosnia and Herzegovina back to work and back on track towards full Euro-Atlantic integration.

Responding to the Actual Needs of Citizens

We are meeting at an opportune time – in the aftermath of the general election. The change in the political environment brought about by the election has been incremental, but as we enter the phase of forming new authorities we can nonetheless take advantage of the momentum that comes from a fresh start, even a modest fresh start .
