Symposium on curriculum reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina

UNESCO, OHR and other organizations working in the field of education in BiH will present a symposium on the curricula of the “national” subjects in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The symposium will take place in Sarajevo’s National and University Libraries on the 7th and 8th of February 2000.

The symposium aims to find ways of raising the standard of BiH curricula to European levels, so improving the quality of education. Special emphasis will be given to the problems of minority groups and human rights issues in education. The question of how curriculum standardisation can make it possible for children to move from one school to another, both inside BiH and in other European countries will be considered.

During the first day of the Symposium Dr. Volker Lenhart will be amongst experts from different European countries making presentations on different models and experiences in the field of curricula. On the second day participants will be divided into working groups to discuss specific issues in curricula for “national” subjects.

Members of the press are welcome to attend both days of the symposium.
