OHR-a and PIC statements on police restructuring

The Political Directors of the Peace Implementation Council ( PIC) Steering Board, together with the Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and leaders of political parties represented in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s House of Representatives, met in Brussels on 6 and 7 December.

We have been inundated with questions concerning a referendum on police reform in Republika Srpska during the past two days. The OHR’s position is clear in this matter. Given reports in various media outlets today it is worth restating that the IC is clear on what is expected with regards Police Reform.

The Political Directors of the Peace Implementation Council Steering Board, together with representatives of the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina , met in Sarajevo on 19 and 20 October.

BiH Foreign Minister Ivanic and RS Prime Minister Dodik have recently suggested that there is a need for new political negotiations on police reform. There isn't.

The High Representative and EU Special Representative, Christian Schwarz-Schilling, addressed the Political and Security Committee (PSC) of the European Council in Brussels today together with General Vicenzo Coppola, the head of the EU Police Mission.

EU Special Representative and High Representative, Christian Schwarz-Schilling, and, Secretary-General of the European Council, Javier Solana, discussed Bosnia and Herzegovina's progress towards Euro-Atlantic integration and plans for fundamental change in the international engagement in BiH today in Brussels.
