Yugoslavia

Official election results in Yugoslavia have not been announced yet. Both democratic opposition and the leading SPS claim that they won the elections. Official results should be published by tomorrow morning, Adis Saranovic reported.

Montenegro

The precise percentage of voters in Montenegro is unknown. The Montenegrin President, Milo Djukanovic announced a referendum in Montenegro next year, if Milosevic stays in power. The Montenegrin State Prosecutor, Bozidar Vukcevic announced that each abuse of election rights would be processed in Court. Reported by Amarildo Gutic.

Capljina

A bomb was thrown on a house of Bosniac returnees in Visici, near Capljina. Local police and IPTF visited the scene. Investigation is underway, Maja Dzelilovic reported.

Lukavac

300 employees of a branch of the company “Aida” in Lukavac are on strike again, demanding salaries for July and separation from the central company in Tuzla. Their colleagues from Tuzla do not support their requests.

Sarajevo

The High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch visited the Association of the Blind in the Sarajevo Canton. Mr. Petritsch delivered a DM 5000 worth donation to the Association. The High Representative discovered that there was no law regulation for registration of the Association on State level.

The US Ambassador, Thomas Miller met members of the Serb Civil Council (SGV) today. The SGV asked the Ambassador’s help in implementation of the decision of the Constitutional Court on constituent status of peoples, in reconstruction of Serb cultural institutions and refugee return. World

Both leading coalition and unified opposition announced victory in elections in Macedonia, although the official results have not been announced yet.

French voters approved reduction of presidential mandate from 7 to 5 years.

Voters in Switzerland rejected proposal on limiting number of foreigners who live in the country.

Protests against globalisation policy of the IMF and the World Bank continued in Prague.

Defence ministers of North and South Korea met for the first time since 1945.

The fifth generation of students started training in the Police Academy of the B&H Internal Ministry in Vraca, near Sarajevo. UN, IPTF and OHR representatives support students and supervise the training, Anes Alic confirmed.

Novi Travnik

The police from Bugojno and Novi Travnik arrested two individuals, suspected of committing 11 crimes.

The International Book Festival “Etonnants Voyageurs” and the French Art Centre “Andre Malraux” organised European literary encounters in Sarajevo, which will take place from 26th September to 2nd October. Reported by Meliha Hasanbegovic.
