Kosovo

The Russian Parliament decided to send Russian troops to Kosovo. The first troops of the 3,500 troop contingent, arrive in Kosovo on Saturday.

An unorganized return of the Kosovo Albanians continues. According to some unofficial information, Serbs and Montenegrins have started returning their homes in Kosovo.

Protests of the Yugoslav Army reserve troops, started four days ago, continued today. Yesterday, the protestors blocked roads in the Central Serbia. They ask the Yugoslav Army to pay them for 2,5 month service, during NATO air strikes.

This was followed by a report on the USA offer of $ 5 million for the arrest of Slobodan Milosevic and others indited by the Hague Tribunal for war crimes committed in Kosovo. The initiative came upon different reactions.

Banja Luka

The Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Robert Barry, visited Banja Luka today. He said that the Government of Milorad Dodik would continue with to operate until the next elections were held because the RS had not the President and thus no one to candidate the new Prime Minister.

Sarajevo

A report on another three credits for reconstruction of BiH worth $134 million, granted by the World Bank. The credits will be used for privatisation of companies and banks, public finance adjustments and export.

This was followed by the news that the British insurance company, Lloyd, one of the greatest in the world, will guarantee for the international business in BiH. This is another program of the World Bank and the BiH Council of Ministers. The aim of the initiative is to attract international capital.

Velika Kladusa

Approximately 3 thousand unemployed share holders of the “Agrokomerc” factory from Velika Kladusa have formed an association through which they would try to get their fundamental right to work, Azra Bajric, OBN reporter from Cazin confirmed.

Brcko

A piece on the investigation on corruption in Brcko. Details of the investigation were not announced at the regular press conference held today in Brcko. The Supervisor for Brcko, Robert Farand, said that the OHR Office in Brcko have received a number of notices on illegal use of apartments in the town. OBN reporter from Brcko, Slobodanka Radojkovic, produced the report.

Process of Return (Tuzla, Bijeljina)

At the beginning of July, a meeting of the authorities responsible for the process of return in Tuzla and Bijeljina was held in Bijeljina. Today, delegations met in Tuzla to continue the discussion on the issue. The meeting was initiated by the OHR.

World

Israeli troops continued attacks on the targets in Lebanon. This was followed by a report on the current situation in Kashmir and border clashes.

Tuzla

A report on the official dismissal of the Canton Public Prosecutor, Salcin Dzanic and his assistants in the Tuzla Canton. The decision was reached at the Canton Assembly held yesterday in Tuzla. The dismissal was initiated by the OHR’s demand.

Mostar / Sarajevo

A report on the one day visit of the UNESCO General Director to BiH. The General Director visited Mostar and than Sarajevo. OBN reporter, Vedran Persic, produced a report in Mostar on the forthcoming reconstruction of the Old Bridge. The reconstruction of the bridge is a part of the Memorandum of Understanding where the UNESCO pledged to reconstruct in full the culture and historical inheritance of the Mostar town.

Donji Vakuf

A report on the Muslims’ religious event “Days of Ajvatovica”. Today in Donji Vakuf, the Muslims have prayed in the recently reconstructed mosque “Bas dzamija” for the first time after eight years.

Podmilacje (Jajce)

The BiH Catholics celebrated today St. John the Baptist Holiday in Podmilacje near Jajce. This is a traditional event for centuries.

Sarajevo

A report on the round table meeting organised by four national cultural associations (the Bosniak, Serb, Croat and Jew) on the topic “The Cultural Identity in BiH”. The meeting finished today. Thirty intellectuals from BiH, Croatia, Yugoslavia and France discussed the topic.

This was followed by a piece on 50 children from Sarajevo who will be guests on the Italian island, Sardinia. The visit has been organized by the SFOR Italian brigade.

Sport

A report from the tennis tournament in Wimbledon was followed by a report on the NBA finals and international football for women.
