Sarajevo
A Conference on the fight against corruption and for transparency was held in Sarajevo today. One of the conclusions of the Conference was that the fight against corruption was not only a task of the judiciary but also the governments in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Prosecutors think that the fight against corruption should be regulated by laws and thus provide prevention. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Sefko Bajic.
This was followed by a piece on the third work table meeting of the Stability Pact about security which begins in Sarajevo tomorrow. The Conference will be attended by representatives from 35 countries and 25 international organisations. Special guests at the work table meeting will be representatives from Montenegro and Serbian democratic opposition parties. The main topics of the meeting will be the military budget and how to decrease it and the fight against corruption and organised crime, OBN reporter, Vedran Persic, confirmed.
BiH Presidency Session
The BiH Presidency session was held in Sarajevo today. During the first part of the session, the main topic was the BiH Council of Ministers. OBN reporter, Sanjin Beciragic, reported that during the next mandate of the BiH Council of Ministers, the Chairman will not be a Bosniak. After that, a regular handing over of the authority of the Chairman was made. The new BiH Presidency Chairman is Alija Izetbegovic.
The decision of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly on the functioning of the BiH Council of Ministers will be announced tomorrow, after the session of the Assembly. Today, members of the Council of Ministers left the session of the Council five minutes after the beginning. Member of the BiH Council of Ministers, Svetozar Mihajlovic, said for OBN that the BiH Constitutional Court had already announced that functioning of the BiH Council of Ministers was not possible with the current establishment.
Brussels
Today, ministers of the EU suspended the ban on flights to Yugoslavia for a six month period. At the same time, they made financial and visa sanctions more strict. They think that these sanctions are much more efficient. The sanctions were alleviated mainly because of the activities of the Serbian democratic opposition parties. This was followed by a piece on the meeting between the European Commission President, Romano Prodi, and the new Croatian Prime Minister, Ivica Racan, in Brussels today. After the meeting, Prodi reiterated the support of the EU to Racan’s cabinet and his efforts to bring Croatia closer to the EU membership. OBN journalist, Gordana Frimel, produced the report.

In Kosovska Mitrovica, permanently present tensions were intensified by yesterday’s incidents when one individual was killed and 20 wounded, including two French KFOR soldiers. Arrests of perpetrators followed.
In Chechenya, Russian planes continue their air strikes against Chechen soldiers. Some 100 military flights were conducted in the last 24 hours. Four days after the release of passengers from the hijacked Afghanistan plane, the UK prosecutors raised charges against 13 individuals. Mostar
Deputy Special Envoy of the US President for the Implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, Robert Frowick, visited Mostar today. He expressed his disappointment with the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement and suggested that Bosnia and Herzegovina should follow the example of neighbouring Croatia. He stressed the issue of slow refugee return to Mostar, OBN reporter from Mostar, Alija Behram, confirmed.
Zenica
An item on the consequences of the landslide in Zenica. Rescue teams think they could reach four individuals who are still under the rubble in the Zenica residential quarter Mala Broda. OBN reporter from the area, Koraljka Kurcenberger, produced the report.
Kljuc
Authorities of the Kljuc Municipality started demolishing a Serb house in Kljuc. The owner can not accept the explanation that the Municipality has the approval of the BiH Federation Government because of infrastructure development.
