The limited success of anti-corruption efforts in Bosnia and Herzegovina until now means that “citizens have to endure injustice and the threat of physical harm, day after day and in every part of the country,” High Representative and EU Special Representative Valentin Inzko said today.

The High Representative and EU Special Representative, Valentin Inzko, met today in Sarajevo with the President of the Radom za Boljitak Party, Jerko Ivankovic Lijanovic.

Principal Deputy High Representative Dr. Raffi Gregorian met today with BiH Minister of Defence Selmo Cikotic to exchange views on proposed amendments to the BiH Law on Service in the Armed Forces, currently before the Parliamentary Assembly.

Speaking at a seminar on “Re-Energizing the European Perspective of the Western Balkans” organised by the Austrian Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs, the HR/EUSR Valentin Inzko said that positive results are possible when the EU requirement is firm and the benefit to citizens is clear.

“Opinion polls indicate that an overwhelming majority of BiH citizens, including citizens of Republika Srpska, want their country to join the European Union. High Representative and EU Special Representative Valentin Inzko met today with Hungarian Army Chief of Staff,General László Tömböl. The HR/EUSR briefed General Tömböl on the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in particular on efforts related to the NATO accession processes.

HR/EUSR Valentin Inzko, OSCE HoM Gary Robbins, and CEC President Irena Hadziabdic, today signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding which defines the advisory role that the OHR and OSCE retain within the CEC.

"BiH politicians will be asking for a new mandate in October and therefore they must use the coming months to demonstrate what they intend to achieve with it,” High Representative and EU Special Representative Valentin Inzko said today.

High Representative and EU Special Representative Valentin Inzko held separate meetings today with Member of the BiH Presidency Nebojsa Radmanovic and Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers Nikola Spiric.

The High Representative and EU Special Representative Valentin Inzko said today during a meeting in Sarajevo with ICTY Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz that there is a new willingness in the Western Balkans to deal with outstanding issues arising from crimes committed during the conflict of the 1990s and that this can help the region move forward
