The 6th session of the RS NA was continued today in Banja Luka. There are 34 items for discussion on the agenda. During the afternoon’s work councillors adopted the Law on Financial police, the bill on changes and amendments to the Law on companies’ profit and the bill on changes and amendments to the Law on contributions. With this Law taxes and contributions are reduced by 23.8%. It is expected that the laws on privatisation will attract most attention.

During the break, President Plavsic talked with RS NA Spokesperson Petar Djokic. President Plavsic congratulated Mr. Djokic on his election to this position.

The High Representative for BiH, Carlos Westendorp, who was received in separate meetings by President Biljana Plavsic and Prime Minister Milorad Dodik, visited Banja Luka today. The RS authority’s concerns about possible deviation from the DA, after adoption of the Luxembourg Declaration, were expressed at today’s meetings between Biljana Plavsic and Milorad Dodik with the High Representative Carlos Westendorp. The High Representative was asked for some clarification, as some stipulations from the Luxembourg Declaration contradict the DA. There are no modifications of the DA, Mr. Westendorp confirmed. “All issues mentioned in the Luxembourg Declaration could seem like deviations from the DA, but I can assure you that it is just an error in the interpretation”.- Mr. Westendorp stated. At a separate meeting with Prime Minister Milorad Dodik, greatest consideration was given to privatisation, which is under entity competence. They talked about finding permanent solutions for refugees, police reconstruction and the establishment of public corporations at BiH level.

The Minister of Interior, Milovan Stankovic, informed the press that the installation had begun of passport issuing equipment and training for those who would be operating this equipment.. He did not, however, give a precise date for the start of passport issuing.

The SNS Main Board unanimously decided that the RS President and the Party’s leader, Biljana Plavsic, is to be the candidate of the “Sloga” coalition for the RS President position.

Carlos Westendorp called on RS citizens to take greater participation in the forthcoming elections. “As for the elections, I think it’s very important that everybody, all the population, have the opportunity of voting. And I make an appeal here to all the people to come to polls in September and vote for the alternatives in which they see their interest. Believe me, you can change the situation or modify the reality by voting. So this is an opportunity for the population, so use it. ” Mr. Westendorp stated.
