This afternoon SFOR at the request of the Office of the High Representative mounted an operation to inspect the transmitter site at Veliki Zep near Han Piesak. On arrival at the site and following a technical inspection they discovered that the transmitter had been tampered with and vital parts removed. This act of sabotage has resulted in the complete disruption of the SRT signal. The blank screens on the SRT channel are a direct result of this wanton act of vandalism.
The Office of the High Representative condemn in the strongest possible terms this act of outrageous vindictiveness which has resulted in the people of the Republika Srpska being deprived of their television. SRT as a public television network is owned by the people and as such this politically inspired sabotage is an assault on ordinary men women and children. Yet again the ordinary people of the Republika Srpska are having to pay the price for their self destructive leadership.
