Attending today’s ceremony at which Boško Šiljegović was appointed the first Military Commissioner of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Principal Deputy High Representative and Brčko Supervisor, Dr. Raffi Gregorian said Commissioner Šiljegović’s appointment was “good news for both the Parliamentary Assembly and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH).”
PDHR Gregorian said the appointment reflected “in a tangible way the fundamental and inviolable democratic premise of civilian control over the military.”
He commended Commissioner Šiljegović for his earlier work as Chairman of the Joint Defense and Security Committee of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly and prominent member of the Defense Reform Commission, and he described his appointment as Military Commissioner as “the right person to be the first Commissioner ” and one that it will contribute to the country’s overall security.
“Allow me to express my support and good wishes for the Commissioner in his future work, as I have no doubt that he can make an invaluable contribution to both the quality of life of soldiers and to Parliament’s relationship to the AFBiH,” PDHR Gregorian said.
