Dr. Milan Kovacevic, former Director of the Prijedor Hospital, the second Serb who died in a prison cell at the Hague Tribunal, was buried today in his place of birth, the village of Bozici in Prijedor area. A memorial service was held in the premises of the Prijedor Municipal Assembly.

Speaker of the RS NA, Petar Djokic, stated today that an extraordinary session of the RS NA will be held before August 20th. The main issue for discussion will be the situation following the decision of the RS Government to replace directors and editors-in-chief of various local radio stations in the RS.

The MUP strongly denies that Milovan Bjelica, Director of the SDS Main Office in Sokolac, was arrested, but claims that, as well as few others, he was taken in for questioning at the MUP Bijeljina. The release states that there was enormous pressure from the RS Member of the BiH Presidency, Momcilo Krajisnik, for the MUP to cease the interview. Krajisnik, Kalinic and two SDS representatives from the RS NA came to the MUP on two occasions, on their own initiative.

Borislav Obradovic, Director of the Main Office for Privatisation, held a press conference today. Obradovic informed the press that the Office is now working on sub-legal acts that should be completed by August 23rd, viewed and adopted by the RS Government. These acts should regulate the steps which need to be taken by a state company before actual privatisation starts.

Banja Luka Municipal Assembly today continued its 11th session. The councillors appointed new Steering and Supervising Boards in 7 state companies.

The SRT received information from the OSCE office in Sarajevo that the EASC will inform the press on Monday of details of the decision of the Election Appeals Sub-Commission to remove the President of the SSKiP, Predrag Lazarevic, and President of the SPaS, Slavko Zupljanin, from the candidate list for the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament.

The SDS addressed a strong protest to the OSCE on the removal of Lazarevic and Zupljanin from the candidate lists.

The SNSD issued a press release stating that “…the SDS and the SRS sides with SSKiP, SPaS, Democratic Patriotic Party and the People’s Party; non-coxed fours on the other side, decided to torture the voters until the elections, by politicising all sorts of things. All their talk comes down to unfounded attacks on the Government and the RS President…”
