NATO Secretary General, Javier Solana, together with other high level NATO officials, met with members of the BiH Standing Committee on Military Matters in Ilidza, Sarajevo today. The President of the BiH Presidency, Alija Izetbegovic, Member of the BiH Presidency, Kresimir Zubak, and Military Advisor to Momcilo Krajisnik, RS Member of the BiH Presidency, Dragan Kapetina, also attended the meeting, which focused on the current political situation in BiH and analysis of NATO‘s role over the past year.

Today’s report from the Hague Tribunal states that the Serb, Zoran Zigic, has denied allegations of war crimes against Muslim and Croat civilians during the last civil war. NATO commended the RS for its cooperation in last week’s arrest of Zigic.

The RS Deputy Prime Minister of Justice, Ostoja Kremenovic, received the Main Prosecutor of the Hague Tribunal, Louise Arbour. Arbour stated that she was encouraged by the voluntary surrender of those indicted for war crimes. The Minister of Defence, Manojlo Milovanovic, and the Minister of Justice, Petko Cancar, also attended the meeting.

The partial referendum on acceptance of international participation in resolving the Kosovo situation, began in Serbia this morning. Today’s referendum had been organised for those citizens who would not be able to vote at a referendum on April 23rd, 1998.

The Serb returnees, married couple Mileva and Vojin Trninic, who were murdered under unknown circumstances, were buried in Drvar today. About 500 Serb returnees attended the funeral. Radio Herzeg-Bosnia reported that some people were allegedly being held in custody in Livno prison, under suspicion of being involved in the murder of the couple.
