News Summary

RS Government holds session

The RS Government held a session in Banja Luka and discussed the draft law on privatization. They concluded that the law on privatization would be brought at the next session. They also discussed the report on control organs, suggesting to include measures that would bring an end to illegal activities in the RS. They decided to establish a management faculty. RS Government Vice-president Ostoja Kremenovic stated that the Government has stopped further compensation between the RS budget and public enterprises, intending to strengthen financial discipline and responsibility of RS organs and public sector managers. The Government members regarded the High Representative’s decision on restructuring public media in BiH. RS Information Minister Rajko Vasic stated that the Government has estimated that this kind of bringing of decisions important for BiH is unacceptable. The RS Government has supported the efforts of the RS Information Ministry in this political process and took its position, added Vasic. Vasic concluded that all functions that can be provided through a joint body, such as presentation of two TV stations and SRT in Europe are acceptable, but joint production of programs, unification of transmission systems and frequencies in BiH is not acceptable. “It is unacceptable that SRT pays one third for the budget that would be defined by someone else in public TV BiH” said Vasic. In his opinion, changing the name of SRT into RTV RS is not unagreeable. The foreign currency savings will be regulated in the beginning of September. Regarding the annex to the Brcko arbitration decision, the Government will state their position when they learn the details. Kremenovic addressed the issue of the New York Times report that $1 billion is missing from BiH public funds, and said that they have not estimated it to beso, but there are persons who should be punished for corruption. Kremenovic concluded that funds that came the to RS from abroad were spent purposefully.
