The RS President, Nikola Poplasen emphasised, at a meeting with the U.S. Ambassador to B&H, Richard Kauzlarich, that he sincerely hoped the Madrid results would be implemented, especially stipulations relating to refugee return and economic renewal. Poplasen said that refugee return is a prerequisite for solving other economic, political and social issues in B&H. Ambassador Kauzlarich informed Poplasen of the reasons why the United States bombed Iraq.

The Chair of the B&H Presidency, Zivko Radisic assessed, at a press conference, that the Madrid conference should be the turning point in the implementation of the Dayton Agreement. “Basically the Conference dealt with the question of defending basic Dayton directions, the creation of conditions for further peace implementation, stabilisation of the overall situation in B&H and beyond, and the establishment of measures and tasks for forthcoming activities” – Radisic said. According to Radisic there are two tendencies, the first is trying to establish B&H as a strong central state, and according to the other one B&H is a particular state with multi ethnic and constitutional aspects – Radisic said.

IPTF announced the investigation of two Croats who were arrested on December 9 in an attempt to distribute false DM 500 notes. The RS police have taken the suspects to Doboj prison. One of them was released, and Interpol have been engaged, as the suspicion is that the false DMs came from Germany through Croatia.
