There is no progress regarding a resolution of the Kosovo crisis after the first part of today’s talks between the FRY President Slobodan Milosevic and the US Envoy for the Balkans Richard Holbrooke. According to Holbrooke, the situation is still very serious. In addition, Holbrooke underlined the importance of both a permanent solution for Kosovo and the respect of the UN Security Council resolution. Holbrooke expressed again his dissatisfaction with the previous Belgrade talks as well as his satisfaction with the Pristina ones, especially the ones with Ibrahim Rugova. Holbrooke told journalists that a further intensification of talks is necessary and he himself will make all diplomatic efforts in order to reach a peaceful solution, but not indefinitely for time is running out. Since the agreement on finding a peaceful resolution for the Kosovo crisis was not achieved this afternoon, it is expected that the meeting on Dedinje will be held again tonight and, if necessary, even tomorrow.
