News Summary

Unfortunately, announcements of more arrests in RS become reality – Djokic

RS Speaker Petar Djokic, surprised and shocked by Krajisnik’s arrest, stated that, unfortunately, announcements of more arrests in the RS have become reality. Although he does not have detailed information, he said that the arrest serves to sanction certain people, policies and politicians. In his opinion, responsibility for war crimes cannot be collective. Such an action by SFOR and the ICTY causes additional insecurity and fear in the people. “Destabilization of the RS political situation before the elections is not accidental” concluded Djokic.

SDS concerned, but not terrified

SDS President Dragan Kalinic stated that the arrest of Krajisnik was an attempt to prevent an SDS victory in the elections. He added that the present RS authorities knew about the arrest and that everything they say is hypocritical. SDS Main Board member Mirko Banjac said that the SDS is concerned, but not terrified by the arrest. Banjac reminded that Sarajevo Oslobodjenje published an article a month ago, stating that there would be no peace in BiH until the first RS National Assembly members are brought to The Hague. According to him, the arrest of Krajisnik is either an attack on an individual or the members of the first RS National Assembly. The SDS has information that SNSD President Milorad Dodik told SNSD Municipal Board members at their recent session that a key event would soon occur for the SNSD. Banjac also said that at the latest RS National Assembly session Dodik threatened to destroy the SDS. Banjac concluded that this raises the question of whether the arrest of Krajisnik was already planned and prepared.
