Sarajevo – French President Jacques Chirac, is expected to arrive in Sarajevo, tonight. Presidency Members Alija Izetbegovic, Kresimir Zubak and Momcilo Krajisnik will wait for him at Sarajevo Airport. He is arriving escorted by the French Foreign and Defence Ministers. This is the first visit of Chirac, and the second French presidential visit to our country. (Follows a description of the negative effect which the visit of President Mitterand during the war had on BiH destiny). Alija Izetbegovic was shown speaking favourably with Chirac. The next meeting can only be friendly, AI told the news in a lengthy comment on Chirac’s visit. BiH TV will broadcast live Chirac’s address to the BiH citizens.

Srebrenica – After the Municipal Council of Srebrenica was dismissed due to its non functioning, a Provisional Executive Council was established. Robert Barry, OSCE Chief of Mission, asserted that this extraordinary decision on Srebrenica was the only possible way out of the situation, which does not harm any side. An international mediator will temporarily run the town. An explanation was given of the steps which the IC will undertake relating to the Srebrenica decision. The Srebrenica Municipal Council itself will stay out of function as long as it is not capable to act in accordance with its mandate, Barry said.

Sarajevo – The functioning of the common institutions, reconstruction of the informative security services, flag, implementation of the Sarajevo declaration and media, were the key topics of two hour exhaustive talks between Alija Izetbegovic and HR Carlos Westendorp. Special accent was given to the question of two way return to Mostar, as well as the problems relating to Annex 7 of the DPA. The meeting ended with discussion on the measures which should be carried out in order to make a substantial step forward in the DPA implementation.

Sarajevo – HR Carlos Westendorp and the two entity (Federation and RS) Prime Ministers Bicakcic and Dodik signed an Agreement on establishment of the public BiH Railway Corporation. I expect that after today’s establishing the BiH Railway Corporation, the work on forming further corporations will be continued in BiH, HR told the news after the signing ceremony. The two entities Prime Ministers showed open satisfaction with the job which was done.

Mostar – After the BiH Central Bank opened its subsidiaries in Sarajevo and Pale, a Central Bank main unit was opened in Mostar today. From the western part of Neretva river it will be responsible for five federal cantons. A subsidiary will soon be opened in Banja Luka.
