News Summary

Justice will not be served until Karadzic arrested – Petritsch

The Peace Implementation Council Steering Board held a session in Brussels, after which High Representative Wolfgang Petritsch said that he was encouraged by reactions to the dismissal of 22 BiH officials. Petritsch emphasized that the arrest of Radovan Karadzic would have a great effect on the long-term situation in the entire region and that justice would not be served until he is arrested. Petritsch denied the possibility of SFOR assisting in the dismissal of 22 BiH officials. “We will not use force, but all of them will be so isolated that they will have to leave” Petritsch stated. He also declined any possibility of balancing the selection (of the nationality) of anti-Dayton officials, using their work as the only criteria. Petritsch confirmed a detailed deliberation on the situations in BiH and Croatian media in light of the upcoming elections in both countries. He is concerned by BiH Croats who, with dual citizenship, may significantly influence the Croatian elections.

Public doubts balance of Barry-Petritsch decision – Party for BiH

“If the OHR decision demonstrates a resolution to implement Dayton, we support them” said the Party for BiH. “The public doubts the deceptive (national) balance of those who are obviously opposing Dayton, such as the Heads of Serb Gorazde and Banja Luka Municipalities, and those whose fault lies in less clear activities.”
