Sarajevo – Alija Izetbegovic, BiH Presidency Chairman gave an interview to the Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun in which he commented on current BiH questions. In some extracts from this interview Izetbegovic said that despite obstructions by some sides, the DPA shouldn’t be changed on the condition that it is going to be fully implemented. If obstructions continue, I hope that the International Community, that means US, Great Britain, France, Russia and Germany will find a way to prevent it, Izetbegovic said.

Sarajevo – A Turkish Economic Delegation headed by the Minister for Energy and Natural Resources, Dzumhur El Sumer arrived on a three day visit to BiH in order to strengthen economic ties with this country. BiH CoM Haris Silajdzic and Prime Minister Edhem Bicakcic received the Minister today. Minister for Foreign Trade, Mirsad Kurtovic will tomorrow sign a MoU for selling and buying the natural gas. El Sumer will visit the largest BiH enterprises Energoinvest and Elektroprivreda and hold talks on further co-operation.

Sarajevo – Austrian, German and Great Britain Ambassadors to BiH, as representatives of EU held a press conference in Sarajevo today on the election results in BiH. They called on the newly elected BiH authorities to comply with the DPA. They confirmed that the EU will support moderate forces in BiH and that they hope that they will assist in the development of pluralism and democracy in the country.

Kosovo – News on the situation in Kosovo is very controversial. While Belgrade media announced an end of military actions, the BiH Kosovo correspondent assessed completely different reality there. The Serb military forces killed and then massacred with knives 15 members of two Albanian families of which only three are not women, old men and children, among them a child old only 1 1/2 years. A month old baby was found alive in the embrace of its killed mother.

Bonn – After 16 years of Helmut Kohl, the world is interested in the new German people’s choice – Gerhard Schroeder. The voters decided themselves for the new powers, Social Democrat Schroeder told the news briefing after his victory in the general elections in Germany.

Mostar, Rastani – For the first time after some years freedom of movement was prevented in Mostar by barricades, Sir Martin Garrod, Chief of the Regional OHR in Mostar said at the regular news briefing today. Sir Martin explained that the Serb returnees were prevented from going back to their homes in the village Rastani, today and the Croatian authorities did nothing to anything to intervene.

Mostar – An explosive devise blew up in front of the family house of Ismet Balavac in the Crnici village, Stolac municipality, informed the Ministry for the Internal Affairs of the N-H Canton in its statement. There were no casualties. An investigation is on going.

Vozuca – Edhem Bicakcic and the first secretary of the Netherlands Embassy in Sarajevo Martin Stroyb signed a MOU for building a factory for processing potatoes in Vozuca. Around 30 women from Srebrenica will have work in the factory and so get a chance to start supporting their families. Another 200 women will be working as co-operators on production of potatoes.

London – Three members of the family Ferizovic from Bihac received a golden medallion for innovations. BiH as a state, competing with other European countries, received a bronze medallion.

Sarajevo – BiH parties who held their regular press conferences today, commented on the 12 and 13 September election results. It is a tragedy for BiH that its political body turned towards the right wing, Muhamed Filipovic, LBO president (LBO represents the Coalition of Center with the Republicans) told a news briefing. Hasib Salkic, LS Vice President (LS is a part of the Coalition for a Single and Democratic BiH), pointed out the necessity to analyze the OSCE work due to the huge technical problems which occurred during the elections.
