Agreements from Saudi Arabia on reconstruction of 600 houses in Brcko were presented today to Brcko citizens. Federation President Ganic was also present at the occasion. European Union will provide another 13 million DEM for reconstruction of 300 more houses, before the war predominantly inhabited by Croats. Brcko supervisor Farrand was also present at the occasion of signing the agreement on 300 houses reconstruction donated by Scottish European assistance. Farrand expressed his satisfaction and hope that reconstruction of houses will speed return of Croats and their wider engagement in the joint authorities in Brcko.

Federation Government commenced the action of assistance to returnees, in co-operation with the Federal Ministry for Refugees, Social Affairs and Displaced Persons. Aid of about 45 tons of clothing and food was sent from Sarajevo today for Serb returnees to Drvar. Drvar Municipality Governor, Marceta said that this is a clear message from the Federation to returnees to Drvar to be more determined and sure in their returns to this town.

At today’s session of Sarajevo City Council the Statute for the City of Sarajevo was adopted. 23 out of 27 councillors voted to accept the Statute, while 3 HDZ councillors and Mayor deputy Zelic were against the Statute. As Zelic said, his post was minimised and at this post, he has no authority for passing significant decisions, so he opposes to adoption of the statute. Mayor Gacanovic said that the statute represents legal and not political act. OHR representatives, led by Arnold Horowitz supported the Statute.

Kosovo clashes continued in three villages of Stimlje municipality despite yesterday’s meeting between Milosevic and Yeltsin. Many women and children refugees were also reported.

Presidency member Zubak met with Croat officials’ delegation from Travnik, discussing the matters of the recent incident when one Croat policeman was killed in a car bomb while his colleague Bosniak was injured. It was said that passivity and ineffectiveness of Bosniak policemen is sometimes growing into obstruction. It was agreed to intervene with the highest international officials who are dealing with this problem.

Federation President Ganic and Co-president Soljic received US Ambassador Kauzlarich. The main subject of their discussion were problems that appear in police restructuring in Posavina, West Herzegovina and Herceg Bosna cantons. Kauzlarich also expressed his concern because of small number of Croat and Serb returns to Sarajevo.

International organisation representatives held a press conference in Mostar. OHR regional head Sir Martin Garrod said that opening of Mostar airport was postponed for the next month due to organisation problems. Sir Martin Garrod also said that session of the Herzegovina/Neretva canton Government, that was supposed to discuss the security situation in the canton, was postponed due to two reasons. One is absence of Canton Government Co-president Ljubic due to his illness and the other is different report about security situation in the canton, submitted by the Minister of Police Coric and his deputy Dziho. Sir Martin Garrod said that this report should be unified.
