FRY President Milosevic met with Russian President Yeltsin, discussing the matters of Kosovo situation. Milosevic agreed to negotiate with Kosovo Albanians representatives about peaceful solution of Kosovo crisis. Yeltsin said that Milosevic accepted main suggestions from the West in the sense of resolving the Kosovo crisis. FRY is obliged to cease the repression in Kosovo and to allow freedom of movement in Kosovo territory.

UN Security Council approved one-year prolongation of peace troops mandate in BiH. It was agreed that 32.000 soldiers will remain in BiH until June 1999.

RS National Assembly continued yesterday’s session in Banja Luka. At the yesterday session, NA President Kalinic and his deputy Poplasen were discharged from duty, and new NA President is member of SPS RS Djokic, while deputy is from CDU BiH, Bico, which fulfilled demands of HR Westendorp to implement Parliamentary election results. SDS and Radicals representatives insisted that Djokic and Bico must pledge their allegiance calling on gospels, but other representatives said this was unnecessary because representative allegiance was already pledged.

CoM Co-chairman Silajdzic initiated a discussion about necessity of establishing the BiH Supreme Court that was held in Sarajevo with the presence of eminent legal experts. Silajdzic also said that BiH has no legal system except for the Constitution Court, and that establishment of the Supreme Court would mean protection of human rights and freedoms.

BiH Bankers held a conference in Neum on 13 and 14 of June. The main subject of the conference was establishment of BiH Bankers’ Association upon the model from the EU.

At the international organisation presser in Mostar, OHR spokesman Haselock explained the system of work of newly established Independent Media Commission. Haselock said that the main task of IMC would be to eliminate the media chaos in BiH, which is conditioned by non-existance of any media law in BiH. Haselock added that what is trying to be established are three broadcasters; one in Federation, the other in the RS and the third for whole BiH. The fourth would be a joint, private commercial broadcaster that would broadcast throughout the country. Speaking of establishment of a public corporation at the level of the state, Haselock said that this matter would be solved in the manner the matter of railways was solved.

BiH Presidency member Zubak confirmed that the name of his new party will be the New Croat Initiative, but also said that changes are possible at the establishing congress that will be held in late June in Sarajevo. Zubak also said that initiative groups for establishment of party boards were formed in Posavina, Tuzla, Sarajevo, Zenica/Doboj Canton and Central Bosnia Canton. When it comes to the Memorandum on Understanding on BiH TV restructuring, Zubak said that RV BiH is institution of the State of BiH, and that he signed the MoU as a Presidency member and in accordance with the constitution.

Session of the HDZ Presidency was held yesterday in Mostar. The procedure for discharging Lozancic and Grabovac from the party was commenced, and it was said that there is no need for discharging Zubak, because he made the statement and said that he was not a member of HDZ any longer.
