Contact Group meets in Paris

The Contact Group met in Paris to prepare for the second part of the negotiations between Serbian and Kosovo Albanian delegations, scheduled to begin on 15 March. Both delegations have arrived in Paris. The Kosovo Albanians state they are ready to sign the peace agreement, though the Serbian side is still refusing to accept it, despite repeated NATO threats. NATO Secretary General Javier Solana confirmed that if negotiations fail again, NATO would act against Serbian positions with air-strikes, Deutche Welle reported. French and British Foreign Ministers Iber Vedrine and Robin Cook stated that if the sides fail to sign an agreement after the Paris conference, then those responsible will bear the consequences. However, throughout Kosovo conflicts between Serbian forces and Kosovo Albanians continue. 63 people were killed in market places in Podujevo and Kosovska Mitrovica, most of the victims were Albanians. The OSCE Kosovo Verification Mission condemned these bomb attacks and reported that Serbian forces are concentrating new forces in Kosovo.
