While the entire world had been preparing for the coming of the New Year, an unexpected news came from Russia. The Russian President, Boris Yeltsin, announced his withdrawal and appointed Vladimir Putin, Russian Prime Minister, for the Acting President. Yeltsin said that the presidential elections in Russia will be held within the next three months. Sources from Moscow said the elections will be held on March 26th.
