Sarajevo / Summit

Peace and prosperity were hope and echo of the two day gathering of 40 world leaders at the Stability Pact Summit for South Eastern Europe in Sarajevo. Whether those two would become true, depends on the Balkans’ leaders. OBN reporter in “Zetra”, Vedran Persic, in his live report produced at the end of the Summit, said that the participants concluded that the implementation of the agreed would partially depend on cooperation of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. This was followed by addressing of the EU President, Marti Ahtisaari, BiH Presidency Chairman, Ante Jelavic, and Special Coordinator of the Stability Pact, Bodo Hombach.

OBN reporter confirmed that adopting of the final declaration at the Summit meant that the participants would continue efforts in reconstruction of the civil administration and improvement of free political activities and independent media in the region. Also, the participants pledged to make steps in order to provide conditions for economic investments and open defence systems to the countries in the region.

Sarajevo Airport

Sarajevo airport successfully accomplished its task. Last planes with foreign delegations left Sarajevo at the time of this TV INFO broadcast. OBN reporter, Damir Kaletovic, in his live report produced from the airport, interviewed BiH Foreign Minister, Jadranko Prlic, who headed BiH delegation which has been welcoming foreign delegations during two days of the Summit. The Minister said that there were no problems regarding the organisation.

Sarajevo / Zetra

This was followed by a report produced by OBN reporter Sanjin Beciragic, who asked the President of the Summit Organisation Board and the member of the BiH Council of Ministers, Haris Silajdzic, what was happening during the Summit in the “Zetra” center and on the Sarajevo streets? The President of the Board said that general opinion was that the Summit was exceptionally successful.

The President of the Republic of Croatia, Franjo Tudjman, and the member of the BiH Presidency, Alija Izetbegovic, signed the international agreement on borders just before the Summit. The amendment of borders, made by the RS, was not accepted. OBN reporter, Tatjana Lajsic, produced the report.

US President in Sarajevo

A report on the third visit of the US President, Bill Clinton, to BiH. The US President and the US State Secretary, Madeleine Albright, arrived at Sarajevo at 9 a.m.. The President visited the Third Grammar School in Sarajevo, reconstructed through funding of USAID.

German Chancellor in Sarajevo

Delegation of the Federal Republic of Germany was also active. The German Chancellor, Gerhard Schroeder, visited the old part of the Sarajevo town, Bascarsija. His hosts were representatives of the Social Democratic Party and the New Croatian Initiative. OBN reporters, Danijela Bozic and Zeljka Lekic, produced the report. Advisor to the German Chancellor for foreign policy, Michael Steiner, said for OBN that the Summit was a sort of “thank you” to the citizens of Sarajevo.

This was followed by two exclusive statements for OBN from OSCE Chairman, Knut Vollebaek, and NATO Commander for Europe, Wesley Clark. OBN reporter and presenter, Duska Jurisic, interviewed the OSCE Chairman while OBN journalist, Vedran Persic, talked to the General Wesley Clark.

This was followed by statements from the UK Foreign Minister, Robin Cook, the Bulgarian President, Petar Stojanov, and the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Urban.

The President of the Serbian Social Democrat Party and one of the leaders of the Association for Changes, Vuk Obradovic, said that Dragoslav Avramovic, well-known and prominent person in the world, can help Serbia. Dragoslav Avramovic, gave special statement OBN today.

World – Reactions

This was followed by reports on the Stability Pact Summit received from Belgrade, Zagreb, Vienna and Istambul.

Sarajevo

A piece on the peace, warning protest organised today in Sarajevo by the Association of Mothers from Srebrenica and Zepa. They wanted to draw attention of the world to their tragedy. A report on this was produced by OBN reporter, Mirela Pehar.

This was followed by a story about the key person for the implementation of the Stability Pact, the Pact Coordinator, Bodo Hombach.

A piece on taking a “family photo” from the Summit followed.

Kosovo

Multinational peace troops in Pristina said that during the last night there were shooting and killings in Kosovo. The NATO Spokesman, Jamie Shea, said that although temporary instability can be expected in Kosovo, 50,000 NATO troops would be deployed in Kosovo soon and sould provide stabile environment. Statement of the Orthodox Metropolit Vladika Artemije was presented.

Tuzla

A report on floods in the Tuzla Canton and damage that were caused in the area followed.

Sport

Reports on the European Championship in swimming in Istambul, international tennis and football were presented.

Mostar

This was followed by a piece on the election of the most beautiful girl in the Herzegovina Neretva Canton. This year Miss of this Canton is Samira Malic from Mostar.
