Protests and strikes in Serbia continued, due to non-implementation of the election results. The Serbian Government announced measures for prevention of the protests. Reported by Gordana Frimel.

Sarajevo

The High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch addressed members of the North Atlantic Council in Brussels, including NATO Secretary-General Lord Robertson, by video-link to support the continued presence of SFOR, the NATO-led peacekeeping force in B&H.

Sarajevo

The High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch, met Carla Del Ponte, Chief Prosecutor of the ICTY in Sarajevo today. Their discussions centred on political situation in the region, the upcoming elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the 38 publicly indicted war criminals who remain at large. The High Representative fully supported the work of the ICTY and underlined that all indicted war criminals must give themselves up to the Court. Mr. Petritsch announced that he would visit the Hague tomorrow. Reported by Damir Kaletovic.

Zenica

The Federation Prime Minister, Edhem Bicakcic met representatives of the Initiative Board in Zenica. The slogan of the Board, which is trying to find a solution for economic problems of this town is “Let’s Save Zenica”. The Prime Minister said that the request for retroactive restitution of funds paid by the Canton to the Federal budget could not be fulfilled. The report was produced by Amarildo Gutic.

World

Clashes between Israelis and Palestinians continue. The UN Security Council did not adopt joint resolution on stopping the clashes at their emergency session.

The US Secretary General, Madeline Albright will meet the Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Barac and the Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat in Paris tomorrow.

The Russian President, Vladimir Putin singed a declaration on strategic partnership with the Indian Prime Minister.

The Federal Parliament session took place today. Deadline for re-registration of companies was postponed. They discussed transformation plan for HPT Mostar and PTT Sarajevo, presented by the Federal Minister for trade and communications, Besim Mehmedic. Reported by Mirna Sadikovic.

Consultations on establishment and functioning of B&H vault started in Sarajevo today. Financial experts from Slovenia, Croatia and Macedonia participate at the consultations, Sevko Bajic reported.

Mostar

International representatives continued campaign for independent judiciary in B&H. The Spanish Agency for International Co-operation donated 7 vehicles, computers and telecommunication equipment to the Municipal Court in Mostar. Reported by Ivan Pavkovic.

Konjevic Polje

The Federal Ministry for refugees sent 12 trucks with construction materials for reconstruction of houses in Konjevic Polje. From February to October, 6000 refugees applied to return to this town.

Zenica

The 7th International Exhibition “ZEPS 200” started today in Zenica. The Governor of the B&H Central Bank, Peter Nicholl opened the exhibition.

The children’s centre “Koraci Nade” in Tuzla has been working on social integration of mentally retarded children for a long time, Sabina Dizdarevic reported.

Novi Travnik

The foundation stone for construction of a centre for retarded children was placed in Novi Travnik.
