Tjentiste

Ramiz and Zajko Rizvanovic, returnees in Tjentiste were attacked. Local police came later and took information on the attackers. IPTF told the returnees that they could not help them. Reported by Sanjin Beciragic.

Sarajevo

Representatives of the International Community did not want to give any comments, regarding the decision of the Constitutional Court on the three constitutional nations in B&H. The US Ambassador in B&H, Thomas Miller said that this was a good decision. The report was produced by Vedran Persic

Banja Luka

Nikola Spiric, Chairman of the Democratic Party in Banja Luka and Krajina said that the Court’s decision was an introduction to the destruction of the RS. “Such a decision will not contribute to implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement”, Spiric added. Petar Kunic, the Deputy Chairman of PDP also criticised the decision. Reported by Tatjana Lajsic from Banja Luka.

Trebinje

The Muslim religious leader from Mostar, Seid Smajkic visited Trebinje, for the first time in 8 years. He met political and religious representatives from Trebinje. About 100 Bosniac refugees have returned to the town so far.

Sarajevo

The SDP member, Muhidin Hamandzic was appointed as the new Mayor of Sarajevo today. Mira Vinterhalter-Jadric from SDP was appointed as the Chairman of the City Council. Mandates of 27 members of the Council were verified. Reported by Mirna Sadikovic.

Buzim

Until the last elections, the SDA was the only party in Buzim. The SDP won 8% of votes in the elections. Amarildo Gutic reported on attacks against citizens who do not want to be SDA members. No one worries about unemployment, which is a very serious problem in this town.

World

The ICTY rejected most of the requests for refuting of certain points in the indictments against 3 Serbs, who were accused of rapes in Foca in 1992.

At least 44 people were killed in bomb attacks in Cechenia.

The French President, Jacques Chirac and the Chairman of the EU Commission, Romano Prodi met today in Paris. They discussed plans for the next six months.

Opposition candidate, Vicente Fox was elected as the new President of Mexico.

Sarajevo

The House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament discussed the spread of Q-fever in the area of Mostar. The Federal Minister of Health claims that the disease is controlled. Some representatives feel that the lack of control at B&H borders caused the spread of the disease. Adis Saranovic produced the report.

Sarajevo

The Canton Sarajevo Internal Ministry issued a warrant of arrest for Hussein Engin, the Turkish citizen who lived in Sarajevo. He and two Bosnians, who have already been arrested, attacked a Turk and took DM 20 000 from him. Reported by Amarildo Gutic.

Brcko

The Interim Government of the Brcko District had a session today. They discussed the issue of social protection of local citizens. The District Government made a proposal for an agreement on social protection in the District. The report was produced by Slobodanka Radojkovic.

Banja Luka

The RS Union President, Cedo Volas feels that the general strike in the RS was successful. On the other hand, unions that did not participate in the strike, think that it was a failure. Mr. Volas estimates that about 75% of workers participated in the strike. Negotiations between the Union, the RS Government and the RS Chamber of Commerce should take place in the next two weeks.

Banja Luka

Representatives of the RS Privatisation Agency announced that distribution of vouchers in the RS would start next week. 1134 companies applied to the Agency so far.

Sarajevo

There are about 50 000 private carriers in the Federation of B&H. They demand the same rights as public carriers have, Anes Alic confirmed.
