Today, the Basque, separatist organisation ETA, announced they would continue their armed fight for the establishment of their own state in Spain, after 13 months of cease fire. ETA announced they would order their commandos to continue actions on December 3rd. ETA has been responsible for the death of 800 people who were killed during the last 30 years.
This was followed by a report on the health state of the Croatian President, Franjo Tudjman. The medical team said they were continuing treatment. Elections for the Croatian Parliament will be held on January 3rd, as previously announced.
The Macedonian Supreme Court annulled the results at 199 polling places of the recently held presidential elections in Macedonia. This means that 150,000 citizens will vote for the President again.
For the fourth day in a row, the EU convoy with oil for Serbian towns, Nis and Pirot, where opposition parties have a majority, were stopped at the border crossing between Macedonia and Serbia. Vrapcici (Mostar)
After seven years spent in peace missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ukraine troops are going back to their homes. Eighteen Ukraine soldiers were killed while performing their duties in peace missions in BiH, from UNPROFOR to SFOR. The departure of Ukraine troops is a part of the plan of decreasing the number of stabilisation troops by one third. Spanish troops are returning to their homes as well. Three hundred and thirty Spanish troops, out of 1,100 troops in BiH, are going back to Spain. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Vedran Persic.
Sarajevo
A report on the regular, Sunday meeting of the Association of Independent Intellectuals “Circle 99”. The topic of the meeting was the Stability Pact. The guest of the Association was the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Hans Jochen Peters. The Ambassador said that he hoped the Stability Pact would mean BiH choosing a multi-national concept of a state, in which rights and freedoms would be guaranteed to all people. This was followed by a report on a business chance for BiH construction companies in which they failed. Three months ago, BiH companies announced they would go to Kosovo and Turkey in order to participate in the reconstruction of the destroyed infrastructure. They failed in their chance for a contract in Turkey. Currently, they have been preparing for Kosovo. Some BiH construction companies have already started to export their products. Grbavci (Zvornik)
A report on the village Grbavci in the Zvornik Municipality to which Bosniaks returned during the summer. The main problem the returnees have been facing is that the Serbs, who currently live in their pre-war homes, are waiting for alternative accommodation to be found. Bosanski Petrovac
This was followed by a report on 758 reconstructed houses in the Bosanski Petrovac area. Many pre-war inhabitants want to return to their homes, especially after recently made efforts in the reconstruction of infrastructure. The report was produced by OBN reporter from the area, Azra Bajric.
Plane and Tjesilo Villages (Fojnica)
Representatives of the Fojnica Municipality and the representatives of international organisations which supported the reconstruction of the villages Plane and Tjesilo, visited first returnees in the area. Recently, the electricity supply system was restarted, OBN reporter from the area, Branka Vrebac, confirmed.
Banja Luka
This was followed by a piece on the traditional meeting of scouts in Banja Luka. Twenty eight teams from the RS, BiH Federation and Yugoslavia gathered in the elementary school “Vuk Karadzic”, OBN reporter, Sanela Zivkovic, confirmed.
Bar (Montenegro)
At the International TV Festival “Bar 99”, TV OBN won the first prize, “Golden Olive”, in the category of documentary programmes, for documentary film “Gorstaci” (“Highlanders”) by Fahrudin Becic. The film is about life of inhabitants of Bjelasnica villages, only 50 kilometres from Sarajevo. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Slobodan Maksimovic, from Bar.
