Sarajevo

The US Ambassador to the UN, Richard Holbrooke met several B&H officials in Sarajevo. According to Mr. Holbrooke, the Dayton Peace Accords should not be changed, but it should be improved by additional agreements. The Ambassador said that the US policy in B&H would not change after the elections in November. Reported by Zeljka Lekic.

Srebrenica

Mr. Holbrooke paid tribute to victims of Srebrenica yesterday, and supported construction of memorial center in Potocari. The Deputy Head of the Srebrenica municipality, Dragan Jeftic resigned yesterday, after the decision on construction of the center had been adopted, Anes Alic reported.

World

The Yugoslav President, Vojislav Kostunica ended his visit to Moscow, where he met the Russian President, Vladimir Putin. They issued an announcement, emphasising importance of keeping Kosovo within Yugoslavia.

Election silence started in Kosovo today. The elections will take place tomorrow.

The UN Security Council postponed making a decision on Palestinian request for sending more UN troops to occupied areas. Gordana Frimel reported on world events.

Bijeljina

The RS Education Union announced continuation of strike, until the Government fulfils their requests and provide monthly salaries for teachers. Vesna Mladenovic produced the report.

Banja Luka

The RS Minister of Health, Zeljko Rodic met representatives of the Health Union. Union representatives said than one monthly salary would be sufficient for cancellation of the announced strike. According to Mr. Rodic, one monthly salary will be paid to all health workers in 10 days. Reported by Biljana Arsic.

B&H has a chance to be included in the World Global Report on Competitive Ability. Entering this project could help B&H to create economic self-sustainability, Mirna Sadikovic reported.

The Head of the OSCE Mission in B&H, Robert Barry met Croatian Government officials in Zagreb. They discussed the decision of the B&H Interim Election Commission on appointment of members of the Federation House of Peoples. Reported by Gordana Simonovic.

The HDZ organised a pre-election meeting in Kiseljak. The Party Chairman, Ante Jelavic condemned efforts of Mr. Robert Barry towards changes. Jelavic called for all Croats to participate in the elections. Vanja Elezovic produced the report.

Cardinal Vinko Puljic performed a Holy Mass in the Sarajevo Cathedral today. Representatives of Croat troops of the Federation Army attended the Mass. Reported by Ana Drmac.
