Yugoslavia

In the West part of Serbia, the USA plane F-16 fell this morning. This was confirmed by the Alliance. Up to now, NATO confirmed loss of three planes. NATO also confirmed that a missile accidentally hit a bus with civilians on the bridge in Luzani yesterday. An oil refinery was hit in Novi Sad. NATO planes continued to hit targets in Belgrade and Central and North part of Serbia.

Yugoslav authorities released three American soldiers that were captured on March 31st on the Yugoslav territory, near the border with Macedonia. They were handed over to the American political and human rights activist, Jesse Jackson, in a military press center in Belgrade. NATO spokesman, Jamie Shea, said that the air strikes against the Federal Republic Yugoslavia would continue regardless to the release of the US soldiers.

Mr. Jackson is returning to Washington with the Slobodan Milosevic’s offer to the US President on direct talks.

Kosovo – refugees

NATO military convoys evacuated some 4,380 refugees towards Skadar. A spokesman of UNHCR said that refugee camps in Kukes are overcrowded and a lack in water supplying could occur. During the last 24 hours, 11,000 people fled Kosovo.

Tuzla

A report on reflection of the Yugoslav crisis to the BiH economy. Indirect consequences are especially strong in the Tuzla Canton where the production of the chemical industry was mostly directed towards the Yugoslav market.

Klisa

A piece on the problems that returnees to the village Klisa are facing with. Although a Swedish humanitarian organization provided material needed for reconstruction, returnees do not have money to pay craftsmen and many families were left without their men during the war.

Usora

This was followed by a report from the youngest BiH Federation municipality, Usora, where the lack of humanitarian organization’s support has stop reconstruction. Most of the agencies are in favor of the minorities return.

Velika Kladusa

OBN’s reporter, Amarildo Gutic, visited Velika Kladusa and made a series of stories. Tonight, a story on children’s rights was presented. What happens if you give a child name “Fikret”. Sometimes, political option dictates choice of name.

World – Palestine

A story on an intention of the Palestine leader, Yaser Arafat, to pronounce independent Palestine state on May 4th. The USA warned that this could cause a new Middle East explosion.

BiH – Croatia

Introduction of taxes between BiH and Croatia, determined for May 15th, 1999, will make trade between the two countries harder. Prices of the Croatian products in BiH will be increased for 5 to 40% while prices of BiH products in Croatia would increase between 5 and 70%. Our crew visited market “Arizona”, well-known in BiH.
