Russia

Lower Hose of the Russian Parliament, Duma, dominated by communists, did not adopt a decision for starting a procedure for dismissing of the President Boris Yeltsin. None of the five accusations against President got 300 votes required for starting of this procedure.

Yugoslavia

During the 53rd day of NATO strikes on Federal Republic Yugoslavia, planes targeted industry zones in Cacak, Kraljevo and Uzice. Information Center in Nis reported that a NATO plane was shot down last night. NATO announced that they were targeting village Korisa used as a military camp.

After hours of debate, in the UN Security Council, the USA and China agreed upon a joint statement regarding the recent bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade. Resolution expresses concern because of the incident.

Kosovo – refugees

UN High Commissioner for Refugees announced today that 910,379 people were expelled or fled Kosovo since March 1998. Bosnia and Herzegovina excepted 18,500 Kosovo Albanians, 20,550 Bosniaks from Sandzak and 17,590 Serbs and Montenegrins.

Market Place Arizona

Tax inspectors and special force police officers of the Tuzla Canton Interior Ministry have begun yesterday an operation, confiscating sixteen trucks of goods. Confiscated goods are mainly alcoholic drinks and cigarettes.

Sarajevo

BiH Presidency made a decision on April 20th on termination of a contract on economic cooperation between BiH and Croatia. This means that, as from today, customs duty for goods imported from BiH to Croatia and vice versa will be increased.

Brcko

OBN reporter from Brcko, Slobodanka Radojkovic, reports on a forthcoming change of status of the border crossing on the “Savski most” bridge. This should improve economic development of the Brcko Municipality.

Banja Luka

A piece on a meeting between the Head of the International Monetary Fund and the RS Prime Minister. IMF will continue to operate in the RS, the Head of the Mission in BiH, Jose Fernando Ansola, said.

Sarajevo

A report from the establishing assembly of the Peace Corpus in BiH. This Peace Corpus is a part of the worldwide chain which promotes tolerance and co-existence. The project has support of the USA and the International Community.

Radonjici, Banovici, Usora (the return)

A piece on the return to the Radonjici village in the Travnik Municipality. Villagers have moved into ruins without water or electricity.

This was followed by a report on problems of refugees in the Banovici Municipality placed in collective homes.

Although 18 families have returned to the twelve reconstructed houses in Usora in the Doboj Municipality, 147 families still wait for return.

Sarajevo

The 29th International Show “Agrofood” was closed today in the Sarajevo’s Hall “Skenderija”. More than 10,000 BiH citizens visited the show.

Tuzla

A report on two day meeting of metal experts held in Tuzla.

Zenica

A piece on the third gathering of medical schools in the BiH Federation held in Since on 14th and 15th May. Three hundred students and seventy teachers participated in the event.
