Inzko Meets German Foreign Minister Westerwelle

The High Representative and EU Special Representative, Valentin Inzko, met in Berlin today with German Vice Chancellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Guido Westerwelle. The High Representative and EU Special Representative Inzko and Minister Westerwelle discussed the current political situation in BiH, the Rule of Law and strengthening of BiH’s capacity to answer challenges of EU and Euro-Atlantic integration.

“The overall political situation is of considerable concern. The situation will likely to get worse during 2010 due to the upcoming general elections. For this reason BiH will remain a demanding challenge. Therefore the EU and the International Community must be equipped to meet the challenges” informed the High Representative and EU Special Representative.

With regard to meeting the conditions for transition of OHR into the EUSR, it is clear that this process is responsibility of BiH politicians through compromise and dialogue.

The High Representative and EU Special Representative thanked Minister Westerwelle for Germany’s continuous commitment towards stability and prosperity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region through Germany’s tireless support to the country’s post-war recovery and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
