The High Representative, Valentin Inzko, accompanied EUFOR personnel working with BiH emergency assistance teams to deliver food to villagers in Djubrani, Sarici and Kamen, in Herzegovina, today.

The High Representative travelled aboard an Austrian Air Force helicopter flying an air assistance mission in coordination with the Herzegovina Mountain Rescue Service. The mission dropped urgent supplies to communities cut off by heavy snow.

“Following this month’s blizzards we have seen personnel from the mountain rescue services do their work with courage and energy, and the same has applied to workers in emergency services right across Bosnia and Herzegovina, who have been delivering aid where it is needed” the High Representative said.

The 200-kilogramme consignment which the High Representative helped deliver was made up of food rations with a particular emphasis on children’s food. Families with very young infants as well as a high proportion of children are living in the villages that were supplied by the helicopter mission.

“Today we delivered provisions to people who are otherwise cut off and I want to thank EUFOR and the Austrian helicopter unit because without them this would not have been possible”, said Inzko.
