“The future of the Western Balkans is in the European Union. Bosnia and Herzegovina belongs in that future,” said High Representative Christian Schmidt while participating today in the high-level EPP meeting in Sarajevo, which brought together political leaders from across Europe and the Western Balkans.
“The EU path remains the most effective framework for strengthening stability, prosperity, democratic governance, and cooperation across the region. The reforms that are needed are well known. The path forward is also well known. It is time to move from discussion to implementation and seize the opportunities that EU integration offers to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” HR Schmidt concluded.
“It is deeply regrettable that political institutions in BiH did not find a way to answer the wishes of all citizens to speed up European integration. This is dangerous and has to be done soon ahead of the elections,” High Representative Schmidt emphasized.
