High Representative reiterates deadline for the full implementation of Mrakovica-Sarajevo Agreement

The High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch, reiterates today that the deadline for the implementation of the Constitutional Court Decision on the constituent peoples in both Entities in accordance with the letter and spirit of the Mrakovica-Sarajevo Agreement of 27 March 2002 will expire tonight.

He emphasized the expectation of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council that all parties actively ensure that the content of this agreement is fully implemented in the constitutional amendments to be adopted by the parliaments of both Entities. The amendments to the Entity Constitutions must be adopted fully in line with the Agreement reached by the political parties on 27 March 2002.

“I appeal once again to all those responsibleto find the courage, wisdom and vision to take this historicdecision, which will provide for a better future of the constituent peoples and citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the eve of BiH’s accession to the Council of Europe, this will be a further crucial step on the path of BiH towards full integration into Europe,” the High Representative stated. “Hence, less than 100 percent implementation of this Agreement will not be accepted.”
