The High Representative, Paddy Ashdown, in line with BiH Law on Monday appointed four new members to the Bosnia and Herzegovina, Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska High Judicial and Prosecutorial Councils (HJPC).
These appointments are in line with existing BiH and Entity Legislation filling vacancies that have arisen in the BiH and Entity HJPCs. Malcolm Simmons was appointed as a member of the BiH, FBiH and RS HJPCs. This appointment lasts only for the HJPC’s transitional period, defined in BiH Law as being until 31 December 2003. Katarina Tomic and Plamenko Custovic were appointed to the FBiH HJPC and Slobodan Stanisic to the RS HJPC.
These appointments are effective immediately. With these appointments the High Representative has filled vacancies created by the appointment of Branko Peric and Davorin Jukic to the Court of BiH, the resignation of international member, Silvio Bonfigli, and the death of Professor Kasim Begic.
