Gregorian Meets German State Minister Erler

Acting High Representative Raffi Gregorian met today with the State Minister of the German Foreign Affairs Ministry, Gernot Erler. During the meeting the Acting High Representative briefed State Minister Erler on the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and fulfillment the PIC requirements related to the transition of OHR to the EUSR.

“The last two years have been characterized by negative rhetoric challenging the Dayton Peace Agreement and BiH’s sovereignty,” Acting High Representative Gregorian said. “In such an environment progress has been difficult and slow. Despite this environment, the political leadership has managed to make progress on the objectives and conditions for OHR closure. Now we are at the stage where a constitutional amendment on Brcko is in parliamentary procedure and may be adopted later this month. This amendment has the broad support of BiH politicians and the International Community.”

“BiH needs to meet all the objectives and conditions set by the PIC before closure of OHR and transition to the EUSR can take place. What needs to be done now is to move forward on a sustainable solution for state property. In addition, BiH and its institutions must function properly if the country is to fulfill its Euro Atlantic aspirations,” Gregorian concluded.
