Final Deadline for the Registration for the Privatization Process in the RS

The Office of the High Representative welcomes the decision by the Government of Republika Srpska to extend the deadline for the registration for the privatization process in the RS until 19 May 2000 in a number of selected places. This will enable a significant number of eligible citizens – in particular displaced persons and refugees – who have not yet been able to register to do so.

Registration will be possible until 19 May 2000 in the following three offices:

SarajevoTuzlaBanja Luka
Marsala Tita 38Efendije Kurta 1Bana Milosavljevica 4
Tel. 443-558Tel. 252-308Tel. 212-012

The opening hours of all three offices are 9.00 to 15.00 hours.

The OHR would like to remind all eligible citizens that 19 May 2000 is the final deadline. It will not be extended again.

A few press reports claimed that the Zvornik office would be reopened. This is not correct. The Zvornik office will remain closed, but the office in Tuzla will be reopened in the premises of the “Association of Zvornik Citizens” in Tuzla.

The eligibility of BiH citizens to general claim vouchers is determined by their place of residence on 31 March 1991. Therefore, a citizen who on 31 March 1991 was a permanent resident on the territory now belonging to the RS, is entitled to RS general claim vouchers and can either register personally or use a proxy.

In order to register, citizens need to present a document that carries their personal identification number. After the registration has been completed, citizens will receive their voucher statements at the stipulated postal addresses.
