Donation of a truck with a high-pressure water jet unit to the Sava Water Supply Company in Brcko

A truck with a high-pressure water jet unit is being donated to the Sava Water Supply Company in Brcko to benefit local residents by helping to clean and maintain Brcko’s sewage system. This truck, costing 190,000 DM is funded by ECHO through IMG and implemented by the Italian NGO CISP who brought the truck to Brcko.

According to Djorde Dragicevic, technical director of the Sava company, they have been seeking a donor for this equipment for one and and half years. “We have never had machine like this is. It is necessary for a town as Brcko is. Until now we had borrowed this machine from Bijeljina, but rent was too high. The truck is necessary for the function of the sewage system. There are many blockages in the sewage system and, according to our information, 450 houses suffer as a result with sewage floods in their basements. Now when we have this truck, we will need a few months of an intensive work to normalize the sewage system, and after that we will normally maintain it.”

The truck can both transport sewage away and clean sewage pipelines by means of a high-pressure water jet.

The donation is part of a larger project implemented by CISP and funded by ECHO through IMG and includes, additionally, the construction of a new well in Prnjavor in Brcko.

According to IMG Head of Office, Tuzla, Hans Ulens “the delivery of the sewage truck to Brcko town is the result of the good cooperation between the Sava Company and CISP, ECHO and IMG. The IMG – having identified this project as a priority through its representative in Brcko, Mr. Vlado Potparevic, who is in daily contact with the Sava Company – provided funds to CISP for the purchase of the truck. The funds come from a larger fund given by ECHO to IMG for infrastructure projects. Because of the excellent cooperation developed between the Sava Company, IMG, CISP and ECHO, additional funds for the value of over 2,000,000.00 DM have been released recently by ECHO for the improvement of the Brcko water supply. This project will start very soon and will be implemented by CISP and monitored by IMG in close cooperation with the Sava Company.

Deputy Supervisor Shabannikov, with representatives of the Sava Company, the municipality, IMG, ECHO and CISP will be present today at 1pm to mark the arrival of the truck to Brcko and make brief remarks. All press are invited to attend.
