Close Protection Unit Driver – Senior Deputy High Representative Department

 

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION

 

The Transport Section of OHR Sarajevo is currently seeking two (2) qualified candidates for the position of (SDHR) CPU Driver. He/she will work under the general supervision of the (SDHR) and the direct supervision of the (French) CPU Team Leader.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·           Acting as an integral part of the (French) CPU security concept, and therefore accepting that they are operating in a high risk environment;

·           Working in rotation with the other (SDHR) Driver(s) to conduct all tasks related to transporting the (SDHR) or anybody nominated by him;

·           Operating the (SDHR) armoured vehicle;

·           Transporting the (SDHR) to and from any location/destination as requested;

·           Maintaining the (SDHR) vehicle in a clean manner and ensure it is serviceable at all times, and report any defaults immediately to the OHR Transport fleet supervisor;

·           Conducting reconnaissance activities as requested by the (French) CPU of any routes that the (SDHR) will use or locations that the (SDHR) will visit, and conduct general preparation before undertaking any trip with the (SDHR);

·           All other tasks required of Senior Drivers as set out in OHR General Rules for Drivers and the OHR Transport Policy;

·           Acting as a Translator for the (French) CPU as required;

·           Carrying out autonomous implementation of the directives of the CPU within the line of duty;

·           To be attired in smart clothing as dictated by the (French) CPU Team Leader; as a minimum this is jacket and tie;

·           To have a knowledge of and the ability to implement the Guidelines for the Protection of Persons at Risk;

·           Be on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week, with the requirement to work long shifts (minimum of 12 hours on most occasions);

·           A general acceptance that the (SDHR) CPU Driver is a potential target and must therefore concentrate fully at all times when in operation of the vehicle,

·           A general acceptance that the (SDHR) Driver may be separated from family and friends, possibly for several days;

·           Be capable of independent and proactive assessment of the changing security situation.  Maintain a flexible and appropriate reaction in all situations.

 

 

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·             Completed Secondary Education;

·             Minimum of 1year experience in a similar role, preferable in an international organization;

·             Completion of a Diploma in the Operation of Armoured vehicles and/or recognized practical experience in armoured vehicles driving;

·          Technical knowledge of professional and close protection driving, plus basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics essential;

·             Knowledge of vehicle communications equipment essential;

·             Good knowledge of routes all over the country;

·             Valid and clean driving licence (min.5years) essential;

·             Experience in driving 4×4 vehicles;

·             Basic First Aid knowledge;

·             Fluency in English;

·             Ability to work with people of various cultural backgrounds and in a team environment;

·             All other related duties as assigned by their supervisors.
