The meeting of the Peace Implementation Council Steering Board concluded 30 minutes ago. As you know, the members of the new Presidency, as well as representatives of civil society in Bosnia and Herzegovina, took part in some of the sessions.

Over the last year there have been occasional steps forward, most notably on visa liberalization, which is an issue where citizens’ expectations are high and where the authorities have demonstrated that progress is possible when they want to make progress.

Today I’m in Mostar to inform you all that I have taken a decision to close the OHR office in Mostar as of 30 June. My decision today is first and foremost driven by what has been achieved in Mostar.

This has been an useful PIC. We went through all of the key issues very thoroughly.

On August 12th I announced that the OHR would compile an inventory of real property. I am pleased to be able to say that the state property inventory is complete.

As you can see, many representatives from the PIC Steering Board wished and managed to join me here today, despite their busy schedules. As you know, many ministers are in town, and the Turkish Ambassador just returned from the airport because his minister, Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, was also here, as were a number of other ministers. The Republika Srpska Government is today considering the situation with regard to Elektroprijenos BiH. The OHR expects the RS Government, as one of the owners of this company, to finally get involved in finding a solution to the company’s accumulated problems.

Good afternoon and thank you for coming. I am here to announce that I have just signed a series of decisions intended to make the entities and the state fulfill certain of their outstanding obligations under the Brcko Final Award. My Principal Deputy and the Supervisor of Brcko District, Raffi Gregorian, will fill you in on the details.
