Brčko Supervisor Michael Scanlan and Austrian Ambassador to BiH Ulrike Hartmann met on Monday in Brčko with senior officials of the District Government and Assembly, representatives of the “STUDEN & CO Holding,” and the management of the Brčko Port. The Supervisor also met individually with heads of the Public Works Department and “Putevi Brčko.” [...]

Over the past couple of weeks, the Supervisor met with the District leadership and heads of caucuses and representatives of minorities in the Assembly. In the meetings, the officials expressed their intention to pursue immediately a reform-oriented mandate.

The Brčko District Supervisor, Michael Scanlan, welcomes the discussion among the political leadership and deputies of the Assembly on imposing a moratorium on new employment in the public sector until a more transparent hiring process is developed.

The authorities in Brčko have an opportunity to decisively break with practices of the past and move the District towards a prosperous future with good governance, good infrastructure, and good private-sector jobs.
