Principal Deputy High Representative and Brčko Supervisor Michael Scanlan met on Sunday with representatives of the Brčko-based NGO network “Promote Positive” to discuss how the civil sector can contribute to reversing the negative trends, including corruption, that have dominated life in Brčko the past years.

Together with Turkish Ambassador to BiH Haldun Koç, Principal Deputy High Representative and Brčko Supervisor Michael Scanlan met with the leadership of the District Government and Assembly, and visited the Brčko Port, whose EBRD and EU-funded modernization process will begin in July.

Principal Deputy High Representative and Brčko Supervisor Michael Scanlan welcomed today’s adoption of the Law on Budget that institutes a transparent budget process, as well as the directive to “Putevi Brčko” to harness Brčko’s abundant resources to repair the Brčko-Gunja Bridge.

This year the Brčko District authorities have taken steps towards reversing the negative trend of the past years and laying the foundations for meaningful changes for restoring the perspective of a bright future for Brčko and its residents, the Principal Deputy High Representative and Brčko Supervisor Michael Scanlan stated today.

Principal Deputy High Representative and Brčko Supervisor Michael Scanlan applauded the adoption of the Brčko District Budget Rebalance, which includes funding to facilitate the long-delayed transfer of the Brčko Police to a modern EU-constructed building.

Brcko District Supervisor and Principal Deputy High Representative Michael Scanlan commended the Brcko District Police for their efforts and actions in combatting organized crime within the District but also corruption within the police force, thus making the Brcko District a safer place for all of its citizens.
