In response to the Supervisor’s call for expressions of interest from political parties, associations and individuals in becoming members of the Brcko District Interim Assembly, the following councilors have been appointed: Ivica Ageljic, NHI Marija Arslic, SDP Anto Basic, independent candidate Tatjana Mitrovic, independent candidate After a careful and exhaustive selection process, OHR is convinced these appointees will best contribute to the variety of opinion represented in the District Assembly, in particular of the young people of the Brcko District. All have pledged their efforts to strengthen the links between Councilors and residents of the Brcko District. A total of fifteen political parties, seventeen individuals and three associations submitted candidates. Factors considered were: quality of the application, professional background and potential constituencies. Gender was also an important consideration in view of women’s essential role in the future of the Brcko District. The Supervisor of Brcko congratulates the newly appointed Councilors to their appointment and expresses his confidence that they will perform their duty in serving the Brcko District Community, bound only by their conscience, the Statute of the District and the interests of all people.
