DUTY STATION:                 Sarajevo

CONTRACT TYPE:            Consultancy – International/National

DURATION:                        Two months

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

Legal Consultant will be under the general supervision of the Head of the Criminal Institutions and Prosecutorial Reform Unit. She/He will be working in close relation with the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the Rules of the Road Unit of the ICTY. She/he will be responsible for the systematization of the Rules of the Road database as well as the categorization of cases for prosecution before the Court of BiH.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Systematize the Rules of the Road cases;

·        Provide accurate statistical information on Rules of the Road cases, by, among others, cooperating closely with the Rules of the Road Unit of the ICTY;

·        Establish and maintain a close working relationship with the Prosecutor’s Offices throughout BiH;

·        Request and obtain relevant information on war crimes cases pending within the offices of Prosecutors within BiH;

·        Assess which of the Rules of the Road cases are suitable for prosecution at state level.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:          

·        Law degree and Bar exam;

·         Professional experience of at least 5 years as a lawyer;

·        Experience in dealing with war crimes cases either as a Judge or Prosecutor or from working with an international organization within Bosnia and Herzegovina or the ICTY;

·        Computer literacy;

·        Availability to travel around BiH and The Hague;

·         Flexibility and ability to cope with stress and long working hours;

·         Teamwork oriented attitude.
