Supervisor Gregorian Commends Work of Brcko District Public Utility Company

Brcko Supervisor Dr. Raffi Gregorian expressed his satisfaction with the results of the work so far achieved by the Brcko District Public Utility Company after today’s visit to its premises and meeting with the Director Mr. Admir Nukovic and the Steering Board Chairman Petar Domic.

“Reports show that the utility services in Brcko District have in all areas of work significantly improved since the Company commenced its work as of January 1, 2008, which for us validates the decision to re-organize the utility segment in the form of a public company,” said Supervisor Gregorian. “Even though the Company has only existed for several months, Brcko residents are starting to receive better service, which of course is the ultimate objective of this project. We can expect results will get even better with the system coming fully into place during the following months.”

The Supervisor underlined the need for closer cooperation between the Public Utility Company and the Brcko District Government, especially on issues like the unclear division of responsibility between the Company and the Government over implementation of capital projects, lack of various legal and administrative procedures, and accumulated debts from the past few years for electricity and water.

As for collection of unpaid utility bills, Supervisor Gregorian expressed his support for the ongoing joint effort of the Company and the Government to develop a program for subsidizing utility bills for socially vulnerable categories.
