Statement: Progress on Coalition Building Required

Every day that goes by without the formation of a government delays the reforms that this country desperately needs.

Bosnia and Herzegovina ’s political leaders should live up to their responsibilities to the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina , to build coalitions and form governments rapidly so that the country can return to the reform agenda, in line with the European Partnership priorities.

This country needs its parliament to be functioning. The House of Representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina — suspended since 20 November – must resume its inaugural session as soon as possible.

The speakers and important policy and appointment committees, including the Committee on Formation of the Parliamentary Committee on Preparation for Election of the CoM, need to be elected.

BiH political leaders will have the opportunity to explain why they have failed to form governments in more than two weeks at the PIC in Brussels tomorrow.
