Statement: OHR Statement on War Crimes Commemorations

In response to today’s 16 page supplement published by Vecernje Novosti todaywhich published the names of over 3000 Serbs who were killed in the area around Srebrenica, the OHR issued the following statement:“Any citizen of BiH can bring a case to the Court, as was the case with the family members of the men who went missing in Srebrenica in 1995. As a result, the Human Rights Chamber in March 2003 ordered the RS Government to investigate the fate and whereabouts of those who went missing in Srebrenica during the period of the 10 to 19 July 1995.

In response to the Human Rights Chamber’s Decision, the RS Government established a Commission to conduct such an investigation.

The systematic ferocity, over a concentrated period of time, of the killing at Srebrenica places this event in the most brutal category of premeditated war crimes.”
