Statement: Attack on Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

image_pdfimage_print

This is not the first time that the RS Prime Minister’s Press Office has directed a personal attack on the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, who is an observer member of the PIC SBA. Besides harsh attacks on the Ambassador for the Netherlands’ government’s decision not fund a project at the Banja Luka Clinical Centre, the RS Government also approved funding for an NGO to sue the Netherlands’ government regarding events in the UN Safe Area of Srebrenica.  The recent attack by the RS Government against the Netherlands’ ambassador should therefore be read in light of the RS Government’s previous criticism.  Such harsh criticism, regretabbly, is extended to any person, country or international organization that holds a view different from that of the current RS Prime Minister.

It is clear that foreign policy is an exclusive competence of the state of BiH. The RS cannot limit the work or movement of an ambassador who is duly accredited in BiH, nor is the RS entitled to send a diplomatic note to a foreign government.

The IC wants to see the RS playing a constructive role in moving forward the EU integration process of BiH, to the benefit of all its citizens. Such personal attacks are not constructive.
